AN ART COLLEGE FOR DISPLACED LITHUANIAN ARTISTS

1946 to 1949 were perhaps the most wonderful years for any Lithuanian student of art: here was a college set up after the war by the benevolent French in order to advance the traditions and new forms of artistic pursuit.

Over all, 129 students attended the college throughout its short-lived years, but most went on to achieve wonderful artistic endeavours throughout the world.

The school itself was run by eminent Lithuanian professors of art and administered and taught by talented staff with 6 distinct areas of learning: Painting, Sculpture, Pottery, Graphics, Weaving, and History.
